Happy 15th Birthday to Nova Scotia’s Air Medical Transport Program
EHS LifeFlight is proud to recognize the 15th anniversary of Nova Scotia’s Air Medical Transport Program. Since launching the program over 7,660 patients have been flown!
On June 13, 1996 a media release from the Nova Scotia Department of Health quoted then Premier, John Savage saying, “Having a helicopter and a highly trained staff gives all Nova Scotians rapid access to critical care. Now no matter where you live in Nova Scotia, you will have access to the best care available in the province."
Over the past 15 years there have been many changes that have brought EHS LifeFlight to where the program is today. Through this evolution, the commitment to the people of the Maritimes has never faltered. Many of the original team remain active air crew today. They, along with newer crew members, are all dedicated to the EHS LifeFlight mission – to provide critical care to ill and injured patients and immediate access to expert consultation and safe, timely air medical service.
EHS LifeFlight would like to extend a big thank you to all those who have helped along the way – the air medical teams, pilots, technicians, community stakeholders, regulators and partners, including the IWK who have helped build the program into the success it is today.
Happy Birthday, EHS LifeFlight!
